新日本フィルのコンサートマスター、ソリスト、室内楽奏者としても活躍するヴァイオリニスト、西江辰郎は、東京生まれ。桐朋女子高等学校音楽科（共学）を経て、桐朋学園ソリストディプロマコース修了。国内コンクールに多数入賞し、2001年弱冠24歳で仙台フィルハーモニー管弦楽団のコンサートマスターに就任。多くのソロを受けもち、「英雄の生涯」、「シェヘラザード」など絶賛された。東京フィロスクヮルテット、セレーノ弦楽四重奏団を結成し、ＳＰＣ大賞、せんだい芸術祭大賞、緑の風音楽賞、松尾音楽助成などの受賞歴をもつ。ヴァイオリンを辰巳明子、故ティボール・ヴァルガ、景山誠治、藤原浜雄、海野義雄の各氏に、室内楽を安永徹、市野あゆみ、ガボール・タカーチ＝ナジ、岡山潔の各氏に師事。

レパートリーもコレルリ、バッハから三善晃、カプースチンまでと幅広い。イタリアの作曲家アレッサンドロ・クオッツォとは友人で、ピアノのジュゼッペ・アンダローロとのイタリア・リサイタルツアーでは無伴奏ヴァイオリンソナタを献呈された。

日本、オーストリア、スイス、フランス、イタリア、チェコ、韓国、マレーシアなど世界各地で演奏。

ソリストとしても東京交響楽団、オーケストラ・T・ヴァルガ、仙台フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、仙台市民交響楽団、オーケストラ・アンサンブル金沢、チェコ室内フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、新日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団等、国内外のオーケストラと共演。

クリスティアン・アルミンク氏に認められ、05年より新日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団コンサートマスターに就任。07年には「M・マイスキー６０歳記念プロジェクト」でチェロのミッシャ・マイスキー氏と共演。09年にはアールガウ交響楽団のソリストに抜擢され、チューリッヒ・トーンハレで協奏曲デビューを果たし、紙上でも賞賛された。リサイタルではアンドレア・タランティーノのSulla Via del Graal,アレッサンドロ・クオツッオのMeditationや小杉紗代のSpiraling Sparksなど世界初演。12年、Atman Trioを結成。

15年には久石譲の新曲「室内交響曲」の世界初演にて6弦エレクトリックヴァイオリンのソロを務め話題になった。以来、久石譲の新シリーズMusic Futureにてバンドマスターをつとめている。16年「題名のない音楽会」にピアノの上原ひろみとゲスト出演。コロナ禍となった20年、21年にはブルーノート東京にて“Save Live Music　Returns” Hiromi Piano Quintetに出演。Hiromi Piano Quintet にてFuji　Rock　Festivalに出演、また全国ツアーを行った。また、ピアノトリオでのニューアルバムをリリース。22年1月にはソリストの来日がかなわずコンチェルト独奏を務め、佐渡裕と初共演。また、久石譲の「室内交響曲」の再演のソリストを務めた。

Violinist Tatsuro Nishie, active as Concertmaster of the New Japan Philharmonic, as well as a soloist and chamber musician, was born in Tokyo. After graduating from the Music Department of Toho Girls’ High School (coeducational) and completing the Soloist Diploma Course at Toho Gakuen School of Music, he won numerous prizes in domestic competitions. In 2001, at the young age of 24, he was appointed Concertmaster of the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra. He performed many solo works and received high acclaim for performances such as Ein Heldenleben and Scheherazade. He founded the Tokyo Philo Quartet and Sereno String Quartet, and has received awards including the SPC Grand Prize, Sendai Arts Festival Grand Prize, Midori no Kaze Music Award, and Matsuo Music Foundation Grant.

He studied violin under Akiko Tatsumi, the late Tibor Varga, Seiji Kageyama, Hamao Fujiwara, and Yoshio Unno, and chamber music under Toru Yasunaga, Ayumi Ichino, Gábor Takács-Nagy, and Kiyoshi Okayama.

His repertoire is remarkably broad, ranging from Corelli and Bach to Akira Miyoshi and Kapustin. He is a friend of Italian composer Alessandro Quozzo, who dedicated an unaccompanied violin sonata to him during an Italian recital tour with pianist Giuseppe Andaloro.

He has performed throughout the world, including in Japan, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, South Korea, and Malaysia.

As a soloist, he has appeared with many orchestras in Japan and abroad, including the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra T. Varga, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Sendai Civic Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New Japan Philharmonic.

Recognized by Christian Arming, Nishie became Concertmaster of the New Japan Philharmonic in 2005. In 2007, he performed with renowned cellist Mischa Maisky in the “M. Maisky 60th Anniversary Project.” In 2009, he was selected as soloist with the Aargau Symphony Orchestra and made his concerto debut at Zurich Tonhalle, earning critical praise in the press. His recitals have featured world premieres including Andrea Tarantino’s Sulla Via del Graal, Alessandro Quozzo’s Meditation, and Sayo Kosugi’s Spiraling Sparks. In 2012, he formed the Atman Trio.

In 2015, he gained attention for performing the solo part on six-string electric violin in the world premiere of Joe Hisaishi’s new work Chamber Symphony. Since then, he has served as bandmaster for Hisaishi’s Music Future series. In 2016, he appeared as a guest performer with pianist Hiromi Uehara on the television program Untitled Concert. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, he appeared at Blue Note Tokyo in the “Save Live Music Returns” concerts with the Hiromi Piano Quintet. He also performed at the Fuji Rock Festival and joined the group’s nationwide tour. In addition, he released a new album with his piano trio.

In January 2022, when the scheduled soloist was unable to travel to Japan, Nishie stepped in to perform a concerto solo, marking his first collaboration with Yutaka Sado. He also appeared as the soloist in the revival performance of Joe Hisaishi’s Chamber Symphony.
